Submission Guidelines

Florida Sporthorse magazine is a quarterly publication serving equestrians across the state with interests in dressage, hunter/jumpers, combined training and sport horse breeding.

Florida Sporthorse Magazine accepts articles of interest to Florida equestrians including profiles of accomplished riders, trainers and breeders; stories on health and nutrition; product reviews and other human interest topics.

The readership is comprised of both professionals and amateurs who compete in sport horse disciplines.

Freelance writers should submit queries to floridasporthorse@gmail.com.  Please do not send complete manuscripts.

Assignments are made to interested writers and photographers, and fees will be paid upon receipt of a signed contract and the publication of the article or photograph.  Florida Sporthorse Magazine holds First North American Serial Rights (FNASR) for both the print and online edition of the magazine.  Once published, the author or photographer retains all other rights to his work, including the right to re-license its use as a reprint.

For the first year of publication, Florida Sporthorse Magazine pays up to $75 for feature stories of 1500-2000 words, and up to $45 for shorter items such as product reviews and columns of up to 500 words.  Fees may increase thereafter, and regular contributors may receive preferential assignments.

Stories must follow the Associated Press Stylebook and be submitted as .txt, .doc. or .rtf files.  Photographs must be submitted digitally as high-resolution jpeg files.
